Saturday 11th July A Memorable Evening of Music
What a truly special evening we enjoyed at Arnside WI Village Hall on Saturday, as music lovers came together to raise more than £1,500 for the local charity CancerCare.
We were delighted to welcome the outstanding Dave Hull-Denholm Band, led by Lindisfarne frontman Dave Hull-Denholm, for a memorable performance celebrating the timeless songs of the late Alan Hull.
Alan Hull, the acclaimed singer-songwriter and founding member of the legendary Tyneside folk-rock band Lindisfarne, left behind a remarkable catalogue of songs and poetry that continues to inspire audiences more than 30 years after his passing. As Alan’s son-in-law and former bandmate, Dave Hull-Denholm has a unique connection to both the music and the man, making this tribute performance especially meaningful.
After spending the afternoon setting up, Dave, Evan and the band took to the stage at 8.30pm for a wonderful 95-minute set featuring both much-loved classics and hidden gems from Alan Hull’s songbook. The audience enthusiastically joined in with favourites including Lady Eleanor, Run For Home and Clear White Light, creating a wonderful atmosphere throughout the evening.
The event raised over £1,500 through ticket sales, the bar and a raffle, made possible by the incredible generosity of local businesses, musicians and everyone who supported the evening.
Opening the concert was Tony Farren from Windermere, whose distinctive folk style was warmly received and provided the perfect start to the night.
